AAAAbbbbbboooooooooo.....

So I didn't get in the NYC marathon in november. I didn't think I would because your first year is usually a wash, but it's official.

So, on to other things. I am going to be doing the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in Savannah on November 5th, 2011 AND I signed up for my fav race ever, the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in New Orleans in March 2012. I LOVE the Rock'n'Roll series and so I'm super excited about both races. I have never run a marathon and now I have two scheduled within 6 months. Time for training!!

Today I ran intervals with the Stoix group downtown, Stoix

Our workout was this:
Warm Up: .97 miles, 9:34, pace: 9:52/mi

Intervals:
Run 3 2 minute intervals with a 3 minute recovery
*I messed up but it's a 2 minute run with a 3 minute recovery which was: .54 mi, 5:01, pace: 9:30 mi
*.23 mi, 2 min, pace: 8:48/mi - recovery .23 mi, 2:45, pace: 11:33
*.23 mi, 2:01, pace: 8:56 - recovery .23, 3:00 min, pace: 12:51/mi

Run 2 60 second intervals with a 90 second recovery
*.13 mi, 1:00 min, 8:05/mi - recovery .13, 1:29 min, pace: 11:35/mi
*.12 mi, 59 seconds, pace: 8:02/mi - recovery .13, 1:32, pace: 12:13

Run 1 2 minute interval, 3 min recovery
*.22 mi, 1:59 pace: 9:05 - recovery .22 2:58 pace: 13:37

I went to the gym at lunch and I did:
5x5 standing should press 45, 55, 65, 75, 75 (fail)
5x5 push press 55, 65, 75, 85, 95
5x5 push jerk 65, 75, 85, 95, 95 (fail)

since I stopped lifting weights, my max 5 rep push jerk was 115 lbs... now it's 95 :(
but that's what happens when you don't lift for 6 months

I took a pic of myself this morning before running and it's bad, but i'll still show it... I look better in person

It's tuesday!!!!

I couldn't think of a clever title. I need to get more creative. I just want to talk about a lot of different things so it was hard to narrow it down :)

first:
my workout for Monday, April 25th
I was supposed to do an easy 20 minute run but I did a hard 30 minute run jog.

Location: Thornblade or what I like to call, the hilliest place on earth
Time: 32:36
Distance: 3.11 miles
How did I feel: I HATE HATE HATE HATE running in the heat. But I live in SC and it's hot here. SO I need to get over it. I was hot, I was dehydrated, my shins were killing me. These are the runs that I hope will make me stronger

Second:
my workout for today was supposed to be a rest day
I did the Nike Training Club workout from my iPhone.

If you have an iPhone, you absolutely need to get this app, NTC
It's basically Circuit Training and it includes medicine ball push ups, push ups with frogger, leg raises, burpees, russian twists, etc etc etc. It's a full body workout and each exercise is anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. I love it when I don't feel like making up something.

I was starving when I was done and I brought my lunch to work which included a premade salad from Whole Foods and home made spaghetti. Let me just say that I used whole grain noodles, organic marinara and grass fed beef.

The kit!!

The salad

I added some berries on my own

Third: Tomorrow is the big day. I find out if I'm accepted into the largest marathon in the US, the NYC Marathon. It's my first year trying to get in, so I doubt I'll be accepted, but fingers are crossed!!

Lastly, every time I drive to Travelers Rest to see my grandfather, I enjoy the beautiful scenery. South Carolina is absolutely gorgeous, and specifically, the upstate. Everyone thinks of Charleston, but I love the mountains and I love being able to see them when I drive north.

Zumba!!!

As many of you know, I'm kind of pzyophrenic when it comes to working out if I don't have an event to train for. That will be taken care of on April 27th, as that's when lottery participants are granted or denied entrance into the NYC marathon. If I do get in, we know what i'll be doing, if not, Rock'n'Roll Savannah here I come. In the meantime, I'm trying to get back into running from a long break. I ran 3 times last week and while I was supposed to do a long run sunday morning, my legs and shins were so sore that I thought I'd allow myself some time to recover. It's better for me to ease back into distance and repitition than it is for me to get an injury (back, hip, shins and achilles are my go tos).

Sunday, I did a Zumba video with my stepdaughters. Jesse loves to dance (she's the 10 year old) and I had been promising her all weekend we would do it. It is so fun and I'm always worn out when I'm done. You think an at home video would be stupid and really not a good work out, but I'm always so tired when I'm done. I sweat so much and my legs are sore...

Zumba was created by a guy named "Beto", he's Colombian, in the 90's. It is getting super popular because it's fun and it's a good workout. Here is the video we did: Zumba. I don't think it brings you directly to the video, but that's the website.

*
We do the salsa, reggaeton, cumbia, merengue, etc etc.

That's Beto

It combines my fav things, the Latin culture, dance and fitness!! It's kind of cheesy but I love it!

Blog Hop

So I'm really trying to get more followers for my blog. I am also wanting to find more blogs to read because of the ones I do follow, I really enjoy them. I have joined a couple of blogging networks, Wellsphere and Blogher, and now I am doing a blog hop. I am not really sure what that means, but I'm giving it a shot, haha. The first thing to do is follow this blog: www.diminishinglucy.com and put this button:

<center><a href=http://www.diminishinglucy.com/2010/05/all-new-fat-to-fit-blog-hop.html><img src="http://www.hawkercentral.com/images/fat2fit.png" /></a></center>

and then add your blog to the list. I don't know what happens after that. I read a couple of blogs on there and they were pretty good. I'll report back and let you know how it goes!
